The innovation strategy is an actionable and business-outcome driven roadmap that commences with defining the business context and competitive position. It outlines the organisation’s aspirational targets, defines its goals and priorities and shapes its culture. 

The innovation strategy also provides a map that translates its aims and objectives into a set of executable and measurable innovation initiatives and interventions that can be mapped back onto the following:

  • organisational innovation capacity to move towards the future state;
  • internal processes (e.g. improving speed of concept development)  
  • customer/ user interaction and experience (e.g. tackling latent needs)   
  • financial (e.g. better return on innovation investment; increased revenue and profit).
