Automation, Control and Robotics

Date: 2 April 2015 : 09:30 - 16:00

Automation and control is a growing area of engineering and closely linked to the requirement for advanced digital skills. The word “robotics” conjures up sci-fi futuristic images of a people-free world, when the reality is that robots are in use everyday today in manufacture and processing, and in addition has been highlighted by the IET as one of the fastest growing areas for the future.

This session is ideal for:

  • Curriculum leaders in construction, engineering and IT
  • Lecturers and Lead Teachers in Sciences, Technology, Engineering and Maths

This Masterclass is being made available by City & Guilds as a CPD event for teachers and lecturers of the C&G Engineering Techbac and Construction for the Built Environment Techbac. Please advise NEF if you are a C&G Techbac provider.

About the event

This event offers a chance to be updated on the latest in robotics and automation. The Masterclass will make use of ABB’s modern and fully equipped training facilities and their experts in the development, application and maintenance of robotic and automation systems. There will be tours of the training facilities and hands-on activities with a valuable opportunity to program robots.

An ABB senior expert will start the presentations and discuss the role of robotics across all sectors, the state of the robotics industry and the skills issues. Experts from construction and engineering will speak of the role of automation in their companies and sectors.
