Trafford College Benchmarks its STEM Provision

Differentiating a college’s STEM provision from other education and training providers creates a level of confidence amongst its students, employers and teachers. It makes it stand out. This is why Trafford College had decided to undergo the STEM Assured Standard and subsequently passed it with flying colours.  The news of this achievement came just in time to coincide with the launch of the college’s new specialist Science and Technology Centre on Friday 7 March 2014.

Sir Bill Moorcroft, Trafford College Principal said, "Today's celebration is about recognising the tremendous contribution made by so many individuals who have been at the forefront of realising our ambitions for a project that is pivotal to the development of STEM in our local community.

“I am so delighted to celebrate the news of the College’s approval as a STEM Assured centre. The STEM Assured standard provides a robust framework that benchmarks and validates a college’s capability in delivering STEM. It is designed and recognised by business and industry and is endorsed by government and regulatory bodies. The interplay between STEM subjects help us to drive innovation further and develop cross-circular STEM provision that supports the growing needs of new and emerging technology companies in our region.”

The NEF validation panel, comprised of senior representatives from STEM industry sectors, commended the college on their active engagement programme with employers, schools and universities.

Prof Sa’ad Medhat. NEF’s Chief Executive said: “Trafford has demonstrated its vision and capability in creating and delivering innovative STEM programmes that enrich the learner experience and address the needs of STEM businesses. We welcome Trafford College as part of the exclusive STEM Assured club.”
