National success of Knowledge Transfer Workshops

With 3 KTT workshops already delivered and many more on their way NEF's Michelle Medhat is driving innovation and sharing best knowledge transfer techniques with participants from all over the country. From Exeter, to Birmingham via London, wherever they have been delivered, the first tranche of Knowledge and Technology workshops have been deemed a success by participants.

The Workshops, held at City College Birmingham on 11 February and City and Islington College on 14 Feb focused on building an understanding of knowledge and technology transfer in the context of further education. The full day workshop saw participants work through the seven stages of the KTT Profile Builder – a tool developed by NEF and distributed by LSIS, to enable colleges to profile their capability and capacity to deliver KTT, identify where gaps in capability existed and build a KTT implementation plan to drive income generation and underpin curriculum and business improvements.

The shorter Workshop (taster) provided an exciting overview of knowledge and technology transfer and apprenticeships. Held at the SW STEM Conference in Exeter on 8 February, the event looked at the relationship between KTT and employer engagement, and how this could potentially be used drive apprenticeships.

Participants showed their appreciation, giving us feedback such as:

"Loved the role play – made it real…"
"The KTT workshop was great and thanks for your excellent delivery - motivating and inspiring!"
"Very useful – really enjoyed the day!"
