About the event

This event will primarily look at Rapid Prototyping and 3D Printing. 

Hosted at the Department of Design and Engineering of University of Bournemouth, this Masterclass will focus on product development, current practice in industry, and innovation in the teaching and learning of product development.

This Masterclass is timed to coincide with the university’s Festival of Design & Innovation: a showcase of student work during their time at the university and during placements with employers. The event attracts over 1500 visitors including talent scouts from the BBC's Dragons' Den and international companies such as Dyson. More than 170 designs and prototypes from the university’s range of design and creative technology courses will be on display, and will give a real flavour of what design at BU is all about.

About the host

The Department of Design and is part of The School of Design, Engineering & Computing at Bournemouth University, and offers a wide range of courses in Design & Engineering. Students are drawn from many backgrounds including FE and are taught in an innovative environment. They graduate re well equipped with the latest skills and knowledge to meet the changing technological environment.


  • Delegates will be given direct contact and link up to specialists nationally and internationally
  • The Masterclass carries 6 CPD points
  • Participants receive a NEF Certificate of Achievement
  • Masterclass participation can be used towards the professional registration of CPD with the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET)
